What's In My Back Yard?

The Road Home's What's In My Back Yard? (WIMBY) Tools provide information about facilities and services available in areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This information is intended to serve as a resource for applicants as they decide how to use their Road Home funds. Users may view WIMBY Maps or create their own WIMBY Reports that shows the status of the following:

  • Road Home Applications and Closings
  • Adult Centers
  • After School Programs
  • Banks
  • Child Care Centers
  • Fire Houses
  • Gas
  • Grocery Stores
  • Hospitals
  • Libraries
  • Places of Worship
  • Post Offices
  • Power
  • Public Transportation
  • Recreational Centers
  • Schools
  • Sewage Service
  • Water

WIMBY offers a general overview of the condition of an area. While The Road Home strives to keep WIMBY as up-to-date as possible, the recovery status of communities is constantly changing. If you know of a facility that has not been included or has been incorrectly reported as being closed, please let us know.

Please refer to the WIMBY Reports Users Guide (PDF/362k), the WIMBY Maps Help Page, and the WIMBY Dictionary (PDF/48k) for details on how to use the WIMBY Tools. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, available as a free download, to open and print the PDF documents. Download and install the free Adobe Reader program.
